Dem Old Tapes - Part 15 - Morbid Symphony

Welcome to another Dem Old Tapes Tuesday where I look at one of the old demo tapes in my collection.

This week it's Morbid Symphony's 1994 demo "The Obscure Depths of Light". The band were from Wirral, Cheshire, England and formed in 1990. Metal Archives doesn't have a quitting date but their Facebook page has a video for a band documentary trailer that says they split in 1998.

As I said in my video, back in the day I interviewed these guys in my zine, included them on one of my old compilations and had them on one of the all day gigs we put on back in the late 90's. I swear in their promo video I saw them backstage and maybe even on stage at the venue I was putting gigs on at, though I might be imagining that!

This is the 2nd of their 3 demos, they also released a single and in 2002 they had a full-length album and two compilations!

Anyway the line-up for this demo was

Steve Sanders - Vocals
Les Walker - Rhythm Guitars
Gary Lloyd - Lead Guitars
Tony Longworth - Bass Guitar
Keith Hill - Drums

I managed to get in touch with the band via their Facebook page and they were fine with me putting this demo online and making it available for stream and download

They also have some stuff available on Amazon to buy too

High Speed Hangover Patreon Exclusive - The Twilight Zone themed special - Part 5

This show is exclusive for my Patreon patrons. Please consider becoming one TODAY šŸ˜Š

Portrait of a nervous man submitted for your approval: one DJ Grey by name, podcast maker by hobby. A slightly-the-worse-for-wear player of tunes, whose life has been as drab and undistinguished as a bundle of dirty clothes. And though it's very late in the day, he has an errant wish that the rest of his life might be full of lots of cash sent by his beloved PodOmaniacs. In return is a gift of love to them in the form of these additional themed shows.

Said lesson respectfully submitted to be learned in the Twilight Zone.

Dem Old Tapes - Part 14 - Angelkill

Angelkill formed in 1988 and hailed from Iowa, the guys played Death/Thrash and released 3 full-length albums, 4 demos, a split and a single. According to Metal Archives they are still active but I can't find any real online presence other than a demo archive and their last release is the album "Casket Lullabies" from 1998!

I remember getting this demo in the height of my underground letter writing days, I may have traded it for my band's demo, I'm not sure. I remember the singer's name was Blakk which amused me as I always called myself Grey so between us we'd got the two best 'Metal colour names'!! I interviewed him in my 1st issue of my zine Kentucky Fried Afterbirth and I seem to recall that he was big into his horror stories and that they influenced heavilly his lyrics and song themes.

Garden of Crosses is Angelkill's 1st full-length, released in 1993

The line-up for this tape is -
Blakk - Vocals
Norm Sales - Bass
Brett Fugate - Drums
Steve Swyers - Guitar
Mike Kore - Guitar

Ok I took a chance and put this up on archive for people to listen to. If anyone connected with the band sees this is not happy with having new people being able to check out their old music let me know and I'll take it down.
