Vandr

This week I am chatting to members of Vandr, a Blackened Death Metal band from Belper in Derbyshire. They formed in 2019 originally under the name Human and so far just have the 2 singles released. "He Who Saw the Abyss" and "Unto Múspellsheimr, The Realm Ov Fire and Void" from March and December of 2020 respectively. 


From their Bandcamp bio
In the days before lockdown and plague, Vandr was formed by the dark minds of Gallus and Gritz during the ice-cold winter frosts of 2019, creating a unique blend of Blackened Death. With a grand history of witch burnings and riders in black, their small home-town of Belper, Derbyshire had now been covered in a new Shadow of Darkness.

High Speed Hangover Vidcast - 1

 

So we streamed the 1st, of hopefully many, High Speed Hangover Vidcasts and it was pretty fun, we were testing out a few things to see what worked and I think I called a band by the wrong name at least twice haha and we found out that the sound quality playing direct from YouTube is not great so we'll be playing straight from video files instead. Empyrean Fire


Tonight on my channel my mate Elric of the Into The Pit show on Metal Devastation Radio got to chat with Tricia of Empyrean Fire. 
They are a Symphonic/Atmospheric Black Metal band out of Portland, Oregon who so far have 2 releases under their belts. They have a track on the Pacific Northwest Symphonic Invasion alongside Forsaken Eternity and Storm Forger and their debut full length album "Deliverance" came out on the Heavy Gloom Productions label on Boxing Day 2020.

Nihilum




For this chat I am talking with Nihil the guy behind Nihilum from Fayetteville, North Carolina, they play Black Metal and have released 2 EPs both in 2020, Call of the Void and Sunless Death.

This is what their Bandcamp page says about them, 

"Stoked in nihilism, birthed in despair, and residing at the edge of human understanding, Nihilum is the soundtrack for cosmic insignificance and the orchestra for the hopeless. A mythos festers in the lyrics of Nihilum, an over arching concept that runs throughout the musical soundscapes. Nihilum is the music of the ever hungry and groaning void."

Entheogen


Entheogen is a progressive metal band from Ghent. The band formed in 2017 after some chemistry-laden jam sessions between Laurens (guitar), Keivan (guitar) and Anton (bass). The band found the right drummer in Chevy in 2019, after it became clear he too was looking to make progressive music and had the chops to make it work.

Entheogen carries influences from various metal genres such as progressive, death, doom, black, thought they produce some post rock sounding riffs as well. The members come from different musical backgrounds. They strive to get experimental and put out unique pieces of music. 

Among other venues, so far the band has gigged in Ghent at Kinky Star and Asgaard, in Kortrijk at Den Deugniet and won the Moshroom Rockrally 2019 (Moshroomfest Sint-Eloois Winkel). They were due to perform at Belgian Blast festival 2020, but this was postponed due to the corona crisis. Soon the band will release their first EP independently. The drums were mixed by Matthijs Quaars of Quaars Productions.

On their Bandcamp page you can check out a couple of their releases, the 'home mix' single 'Mountainous Wave' isn't really an official release, more just a band jam but they also have their brand new debut EP 'Other World' on there for you to check out.

Dinenthal

This one man band formed in 2017 and hail from Newcastle, England. It has an EP, a single and 2 full length albums to it's name so far with the most recent "The Wayfarer" being released in March 2020 by Dwarrowdelf Records. 

Dinenthal (Paul Taylor) kindly agreed to hang out with me for a YouTube chat to tell me all about his project.
