Today 30 years ago was my 1st Heavy Metal gig. I just thought I'd post up my memories of it and do a video. I will post up photos etc if I get around to it :P I mention a disparraging article, a newspaper opinion piece that some hack wrote and the Bailey Brothers read out at the festival. I tried to get hold of it to post here but had no joy. If anyone has a link or a picture of it please send it my way so I can add it to this blog.
There is an article HERE about the gig and the tragedy that happened. The 2 lads who died were around my age at the time, so when I think of all the stuff I've done over the last 30 years, stuff these lads would have probably done similar and never got the chance to, it does make you think. Check out my latest podcast HERE
************************************************* You can buy this on Amazon and recreate the gig by getting someone to
hurl a plastic bottle filled with unknown liquid at you every few minutes
First up this week we have Souverain from Quebec, Canada. Formed in 2011, they seem to be a one-man band with material credited to I. K. Branmaur and play Neofolk/Martial Industrial/Black Metal. There are 2 EPs from 2012 and a compilation in the band's name.
The compilation "Rites Primatifs" from 2015 is free on their Bandcamp HERE
Next up is another one man band, 350teric is all the work of Благој Цилаков fromVeles in Macedonia. The project started out as Progressive Metal/Djent before taking up a more Progressive Metal/Post-Metal/Rock style later on. The project began in 2009 and has 7 full length releases and a ton more other stuff available.
Go and check out the page and listen to and download some of his music at the link HERE
Lastly for this week we have a duo! Dread and Blind make up the Black/Doom band Funerary Descent from Baltimore, Maryland USA. The band started in 2012 and has 2 demos and an EP to their names.
All of these releases are Name Your Price on their Bandcamp page HERE, so go grab them now you Metal hungry maniacs \m/ Come back next week for more free Metal and if you haven't already check out this week's HSH podcast HERE

Here is show 4 of my Twilight Zone Quintet folks, playing tunes influenced by the 4th season of the show which originally aired way back in 1963. It's funny when a really old show talks about the future and quotes years that are now in our past!! We've got no space ships or time machines yet but as you'll know from listening that's probably a good thing. Are there aliens out there? And if so will they visit us to teach us or to eat us? Maybe it's best if we never find out, never have to get a visit from or walk, skip or dance the fandango through the Twilight Zone! Enjoy the show folks :P Alustrium
This week's old demo tapes are from Scotland's Death Metal/Grindcore legends Confusion Corporation.
These guys formed in 1993 and went on to other projects after a while like Man Must Die and Co-Exist, Metal Archives doesn't have a "split-up" date for them and I managed to discover they have a Facebook page now and back in 2012 they were teasing about being in the studio again but nothing seemed to come of it.
They had 3 demos and a compilation during their time and on this week's Dem Old Tapes I have 2 of their demos for you to check out.

The line-up for both releases was

Charlie Perratt - Guitars
Alan McFarland - Guitars, Vocals
Malcolm Douse - Vocals
I interviewed these guys a couple of times in my zine Kentucky Fried Afterbirth and had them play at The Braindead Club night I put on in London back in the late 90's, here's a couple of videos I have of them from back in the day. (Please sub my YouTube channel folks)
A comment on YouTube says the tracks played in this clip are "Clockwork", "Probe" and "Life Codes" all taken off of the 1996 Decontrol compilation. Another comment reckons the gig was from 1998 which may well be correct.
That's it for this week's old demo, I will be playing a track from Confusion Corporation on my podcast next Sunday. Check out last week's show if you didn't already, the link is HERE
