Dem Old Tapes - Part 43 - Damage

This week's look at an old demo is by Swedish Thrashers Damage. They were around from 1994 - 1996 and had 3 demos during that time. In '96 they changed their name to Dread releasing one more demo that year before I assume splitting up. They don't seem to have any online prescence anywhere that I can find. I will play a track on the podcast soon and have put the demo up online for people to listen to.

Dem Old Tapes - Part 42 - Flesh Feast

For this week's look at an old tape from my collection we have Flesh Feast a Death Metal band from Wigan, England. There isn't too much up about them online, they seem to have no social media page that I can see. I interviewed them back in my zine days I am sure plus they came and played at the club I put on back in the 90's too.

They released 3 demos back in 1996, 2 of them are basically the same demo but one has a different packaging and an extra track. This is their 1st demo according to Metal Archives but in an additional note on there it says it is their 2nd so the 1st is not listed on the site.

Dem Old Tapes - Part 41 - Brainstorm

For this week's look at an old demo we have the "Lords..." EP, the 2nd release from Ukraine's Atmospheric Death Metal band Brainstorm. Prior to this they had a demo and followed it up with another self-titled EP in 1995 and were on a split video in 1998. Under this name they were around from 1992 - 97. They then became Graal and had a couple of more releases, what is odd too is that the split video was between Brainstorm and Graal!!

Dem Old Tapes - Part 40 - Adorior

This week's look at an old tape from my collection is "Beyond the Distant Blue", the 1st demo by London Death/Black Metal band Adorior. The band formed in 1994 and this tape came out in 1996, they are listed as still being active although their Facebook is pretty quiet, so that might be wrong. I think they may be still going but are not very busy. Anyway as well as this demo they also released 2 splits, 2 full albums and an EP. Their most recent release is from 2010.

Dem Old Tapes - Part 39 - Diktat

For today's look at one of my old tapes, here's a demo from 2000 by French brutal Death Metallers Diktat. This was their debut release after forming in 1997. According to Metal Archives they are still going but their Facebook page has only very sporadic posts the most recent at this time is from 2016. As well as this demo they released a split "Primitive Instinct" also in 2000 with Godless Truth, Fuck the Facts, Psychoneurosis & C.A.D. and a 2nd demo in 2008. They also had an unreleased full length from 2004 which you can request from the band I think, you can listen to it on this link HERE. Their Bandcamp has both of their demos available for name your price downloads plus another track that was part of a French Grind compilation.

Dem Old Tapes - Part 38 - Headwound

Headwound seem to have no online presence at all, no Metal Archives page or anything and a search brings up no information. I got this demo from band member Craig way back in 1994 I would guess. I featured a track on my compilation tapes and did an interview with him in my zine I think. I am not sure if there were anymore Headwound releases, I think there were but can't recall for sure but I do know that Craig went on to form the Punk/Metal/Alternative band 1000 Scars. They are still going strong so go and follow their Facebook page.

I got in touch with Craig and he pointed me towards an official page for Headwound, check it out if you dig the music

Dem Old Tapes - Part 37 - Vladimir

Here is a quick look at another of the old demo tapes from my collection. This week it's a band called Vladimir, a Gothic/Doom Metal band from Milan, Italy. They were around from 1994 - 1998 and had 2 demos and an EP out in their time. The tape from my collection this week is their 1st demo from 1995 "Lost in My Tears". It's album length though, so it's a pretty long old demo!!

Dem Old Tapes - Part 36 - Cathedral Lung

I pretty much said all that I know in the video really, I couldn't find out much more information about this band at all. It was recorded in 1995 and the band address on the tape was local to where I live in East London in an area that had a lot of squats back in the day where I would often go for parties. Quite often bands would play at these events, I remember bands called Head on a Stick and Life Who Fear being two of them. So maybe these guys played one time too and I picked it up there one drunken night!!

Heavily influenced by Joy Division, The Sisters of Mercy, and Nick Cave.

Dem Old Tapes - Part 35 - Mourn

This week's look at one of Dem Old Tapes from my collection features London Doom band Mourn. They formed in 1991 and had 2 demos and a self-titled full-length album in their time. This is their 2nd demo from 1993 "For Evermore". I guess they split up sometime after their album release of 1995.
